Independent, nonpartisan research project that measures the social, political and economic atmosphere in Africa. During Round I (July 1999-June 2001), Afrobarometer surveys were conducted in 12 countries. Round 2 surveys were conducted from May 2002 through October 2003 in 16 countries. (Zimbabwe survey was carried out in April & May 2004). Round 3 surveys were conducted in 18 countries from March 2005 through February 2006. Round 4 surveys took place in 20 countries between March 2008 and June 2009. Round 5 surveys took place in 35 countries between 2011 and September 2013. Round 6 surveys took place in 36 countries between March 2014 and November 2015. Round 7 surveys took place in 34 countries between September 2016 and August 2018. Round 8 surveys were completed in 34 countries between July 2019 and July 2021. Round 9 includes 39 countries and is from 2023..Round 10 is in 2024 and selected countries have released data. Survey microdata is typically released to the public 2 years after the first publication of a survey's results. The official site may be more up to date and includes an online analysis tool.
