Based on the year-to-year changes in the addresses shown on the population of returns from the IRS Master File system. More recent data may be available on the IRS website. 1990-2016 also archived in ICPSR's DataLumos. The data present migration patterns by state and county for the entire United States and each individual state and county, including inflows and outflows. Includes the following: Number of returns (which approximates the number of households); Number of personal exemptions (which approximates the population); Total "adjusted gross income" (starting with Filing Year 1996); and Total money income (starting with Filing Year 1993). Note the county data is in the state folders (at the bottom of each zipped file for the year) starting in 2011.
