In 2008, the Press and Information Office of the Federal Government commissioned a broad-based study on migrants to provide comprehensive information on the life of this target group in Germany. In the meantime, numerous policy measures (including several integration summits and a National Action Plan on Integration) aimed to improve the overall conditions for the integration of migrants into German society. Against this backdrop, a central objective of the present survey was to identify changes in the attitudes of different migrant groups over the past 6 years and to investigate the extent to which the integration efforts of Germany have been successful from the point of view of migrants.
