Conceived as the first wave of a series of surveys of Dutch public opinion. The interviews, containing both open and closed-ended questions, focused on the respondents' political interests, media exposure, and issues of opinion leadership. The respondents' partisan preferences, their political knowledge and efficacy, and their views on a variety of domestic and foreign policy issues were also assessed. An additional section dealt with attitudes toward homosexuals. The demographic variables provide information on the respondents' age, gender, marital status, educational history, occupation, income, and province of residence.
