Summary:  Data collected for use in the Northwestern University dissertation "The Economics of Crime in Victorian England," submitted in 2013, and related publications listed here.

Geographic Coverage:  England and Wales

Time Period(s):  1/1/1870 – 12/31/1910 (Contains three years: 1870, 1883, and 1910)

Universe:  Any individual appearing as a defendant in a court of Assize or Quarter Sessions in 1870, 1883, or 1910. The data from 1883 also transcriptions from the Central Criminal Court (Old Bailey) as well as more detail such as amount stolen and identity of victims.
