Since China entered an aging society, the size of the elderly population has been increasing and the degree of aging has been deepening. The demand for serving the elderly society is constantly expanding. The elderly population has different physiological, psychological, and spiritual needs at different stages of their life journey, and needs to receive diverse elderly care services of different types, degrees, and levels. Based on the Population Research Institute of Peking University, Shichahai Street in Xicheng District, Beijing has established a project special research team to conduct a baseline survey of long-term tracking of home-based elderly care needs. This will help Shichahai Street understand the current situation and needs of elderly care services, including basic elderly care service objects, among the permanent elderly population in the street. It will effectively provide empirical evidence for providing home-based elderly care services and support to Shichahai, improve the construction of the elderly care service system, accelerate the development of the elderly care service industry, better meet the diverse needs of the elderly, and enhance their life satisfaction. Specifically, the main survey content includes basic information, marital and family status, economic status, health status, activity capacity and demand for home-based elderly care services, social participation and capital, institutional elderly care demand and willingness, and smart elderly care demand and willingness. The demand for home-based elderly care services includes meal assistance, medical assistance, cleaning assistance, walking assistance, assistive devices, age appropriate rehabilitation, mental/psychological care, home-based medical care, and emergency rescue services.
